She's officially here; our crisp, bright, and sleepy Winter season. Days are short and nights are long, and crawling out of bed feels like its own special kind of heartache.
Personally, I find this season to be mixed with wonder and grief. Visually, I find Winter to be one of my favorite times of the year, especially when snow is involved but my spirits can be a bit low. The lack of sunshine in the PNW and the complicated dynamics with family can be infuriating, sad, and everything in-between. This is why I especially find comfort in Hannukah. Its focus on the ever present Source of light in a dark world is such a peace bringing sentiment. My best advice to those who are struggling in this time is to rest and be okay with others not understanding if things need to change in order for you to do so. I hope this season brings your soul and body warmth and rest through good food and better company and that you can find little pieces of those things here at Arise.
Sometimes making our days merry and bright is within our own grasp.
Happy Christmas and may your New Year be filled with wonder.
